Today the 'Crystal spotlight' is on Hematite.  Pics at  A crystal that especially attracts the attention of boys as it has magnetic qualities.  It is quite common for Hematite rings to be produced for holding other crystal spheres however young teenage boys think they are a very cool ring to wear.  My 14y.o. is proof of that.  Let's get down to the data.

Chakra: Earth, Base, Past Life

Zodiac: Aquarius, Aries

General: Said to protect a soldier going into battle, Hematite enhances personal magnetism. It can heal the anger and hurt felt by those who were warriors in previous lives, supporting those who face a karmic battle in the present life. Harmonising mind, body, and spirit, this effective grounding stone removes excess energy and separates your emotions from those of other people. Worn on the right in right-handed people, it shuts down metaphysical awareness. On the left, it allows metaphysical faculties to remain open. Enhancing survival ability, this is an excellent stone for accessing the subconscious mind, drawing attention to unfulfilled desires that drive your life. Assisting in coming to terms with mistakes as learning experiences, it helps face the shadow side of your personality. An excellent booster for the memory, Hematite should not be used where inflammation is present, or for long periods of time.

Beneficial For: Claimed to be beneficial for – Timid women, self-esteem, willpower, triple heater meridian, study of mathematics and technical subjects, legal situations, compulsions, addictions, overeating, smoking, overindulgence, stress, hysteria, inflammation, courage, hemorrage, menstrual flooding, drawing heat from the body, formation of red blood cells, regulating blood, iron absorption, circulatory problems, Reynaud’s disease, anemia, kidneys, regenerating tissue, leg cramps, nervous disorders, insomnia, spinal alignment, fractures .1

Emotional Healing: Relieves fears of seeing blood, obsessions about contagious illnesses, over-sensitivity to bodily functions particularly using toilets not your own. Fears of flying and of insects especially spiders.

Practical Uses: Called the lawyer’s stone. Carry Hematite for the successful outcome of court cases. Also for any DIY legal work such as drawing up or contesting a will or representing yourself in a divorce or tax dispute to ensure you are clear, concise and not swayed by pressure.

Workplace: Wear Hematite to boost your courage and confidence to resist bullying in an authoritarian or aggressive work situation. Supportive if you are facing unfair accusations or pressure to quit.2

Find it Out for me Saturday - Crystal Starter Kit

Daryl from Belmont Victoria asked me if I could think of any gift ideas that don't break the bank.  There are lots of gift ideas with Crystals however with Xmas coming up, I thought I would provide an option that is both inexpensive and a great idea for kids or anyone wanting to learn more about Crystals.  There is a product called the Rock (Crystal) Starter Kit.  It comes with over 100 individual chips and small stones of a random selection of crystals.  You aren't guaranteed to get every crystal on the chart and may receive multiples of some kinds however that is part of the fun.  There is several hours of fun sorting through the crystals you have and matching them to the chart.  When you have completed the sort, you can work out if you are missing any crystals to the chart and obtain chips or small stones of that crystal for a nominal price from crystal stores.  You then have a complete crystal set.  Best price I know of is $25.

Hopefully this provides a useful suggestion Daryl.  Look at any Crystal store and you will find crystals in the shapes of animals, as jewellery, different shapes including large butterflies.  Stores have lots of different gifts, so have fun looking.

Feel free to ask any question for an answer next Saturday

Fun Fact Sunday - Cleansing and Activating your Crystals

Thought it might be useful to start to share some information about Activating and Caring for your Crystals.

Cleansing - To cleanse your crystals, simply hold them under running water for a few minutes and then place them in the sun for a few hours.  If there is no sun available, visualise bright white light radiating down on the crystals.

It is most important that crystals are always cleansed after use for healing.  However, if you keep your crystal healers together in a bag, any Clear Quartz or Orange Carnelian will automatically cleanse the other crystals and transmute any negative energy that they may be holding.

Activating - Hold crystals in your hands.  Close your eyes and concentrate on the crystals.  See them surrounded by bright white light.  Ask that they will be attuned to your own unique frequency and that they will be activated to act as healers at any level you may need now and in the future.  Ask that the crystals be blessed by the highest energies in the universe and be dedicated to your self-healing and that of the environment around you.*

* Judy Hall "Crystal Healing" 2011.

In this particular publication the author describes 12 crystal healing stones to be a crystal toolkit consisting of:

Bloodstone, Smoky Quartz, Red Jasper, Orange Carnelian, Yellow Jasper, Green Aventurine, Rose Quartz, Blue Lace Agate, Sodalite, Amethyst, Clear Quartz, and Labradorite.

Any of these crystals should be readily obtainable at crystal stores.
